Gerald Marvel, Jr., 85

TELL CITY – Gerald “Jerry” Marvel Jr., 85, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Golden Living Center-Lincoln Hills in Tell City.

He was born in New Harmony, Aug. 13, 1926, to Gerald Sr. and Mary (Cox) Marvel, who preceded him in death along with a son, Larry; a grandchild, Joshua Marvel and a brother, Billy Marvel.
Jerry was a graduate of New Harmony High School and a World War II Army veteran. He was married Nov. 25, 1948, to Betty Freeman. He retired from the Chrysler Corp. after 40 years. 
He enjoyed RV traveling and boating.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Marvel of Tell City; a daughter, Peggy Martin and her husband, Tim of Tell City; a sister, Bettye Sue Marvel of Mount Vernon; grandchildren Jason, Jeff (Windy) and Justin (Kristen) Martin and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, (today) at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home. Brother Lloyd Ward will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Pacific, Mo.
