INDIANAPOLIS—Two local senior hitters, Perry Central’s Ashley Gengelbach and Tell City’s McKenzie Hayes, have been named to the 12-girl Class 2A all-state volleyball team by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association.
Gengelbach led the Commodores in blocks with 63.5 this season and was second on the team in kills with 235.
Hayes led the Marksmen in kills with 565 and in blocks with a school-record 168. She earned all-state honors for the second year in a row.
Paoli’s Sophia Sears was the only other area player on the all-state second-team. No one from southwestern Indiana made the first team.
Springs Valley senior Allsion Hammond made the Class A first team.
