Automatic calls expected to be part of March 17 tornado drill

By Kevin Koelling, Managing Editor

PERRY COUNTY - County-council members approved at a regular meeting Feb. 25 a $20,300 additional appropriation to fund an emergency-notification system.

As The News reported Feb. 22, the Code Red system offered by Emergency Communications Network of Ormond Beach, Fla., will automatically inform county residents when a weather or other emergency arises.

It will start with phone numbers from public sources such as phone listings and automatically call people and provide instructions for options such as adding cell-phone numbers to its database.
