PERRY COUNTY—All three basketball games involving Perry County teams Friday were postponed due to an ice storm that hit the county.
Perry Central’s home boys basketball game with Crawford County has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 12, with the JV game starting at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity at 7 p.m.
Perry Central had been scheduled to have its homecoming ceremonies during the Crawford County game but moved them to the Lanesville game Saturday, Jan. 26.
Tell City’s boys basketball game at Ohio County, Ky., was also postponed Friday.
It had not been rescheduled at press time and may not be, as both teams have a shortage of available dates.
These were the first varsity boys basketball games involving Perry Conty teams to be postponed due to inclement weather in more than two years, since Cannelton’s game at Cloverport, Ky., was postponed Jan. 11, 2011.
Cannelton’s varsity girls basketball home game with Rock Creek Academy was also postponed Friday and may not be rescheduled.
This is the second time it was postponed, as it was called off the previous Friday due to Rock Creek’s having several players sick.
Cannelton Athletic Director Brian Garrett said Friday it may not be rescheduled again, as both teams have a shortage of available dates before the sectionals, which start Feb. 5.
Garrett said he will talk to Rock Creek officials again Monday to make a final determination on whether it can be rescheduled.
