PERRY COUNTY – The U.S. Forest Service is immediately beginning the process of reopening recreational facilities. Some Hoosier National Forest campgrounds are reopening following the recent lapse in federal funding.
In the Celina Lake Recreation Area of the Tell City Ranger District, both the South Slope and North Face camping loops opened Friday, District Ranger Chris Zimmer said.
Fees are being charged, $10 per day for sites with electric and $5 for nonelectric sites, but the sites are open. Senior pass holders can stay in the sites for a reduced rate.
