Jean Schulthise, first deputy in the county clerk's office, swears in five law enforcers as part-time sheriff's deputies Monday in the county courthouse. Adding the part-time work to their current duties are, from the left, Tell City police officers Derrick Lawalin, Heather Glenn and Roger Smith, and Cannelton officers Lee Hall and Micah Jackson. Sheriff Bob Glenn explained County Prosecutor Bob Collins donated $10,000 from a law-enforcement fund and county commissioners approved its use for part-timers to fill in when other deputies take vacations, holidays, personal or sick days or undergo training. One is attending the law-enforcement academy, he said, "and there are times when we don't have an officer available."
