Forage program offers cost-sharing benefit

-A A +A

PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District has received a Clean Water Indiana Grant to be used for a cost-sharing program for pasture and land used for hay production.

The purpose of this cost-share program is to provide technical and financial assistance to Perry County landowners for pasture and hay land planting this fall.

The program is open to all Perry County landowners and offers a cost-share payment of 50 percent of the actual cost for a pasture-hay land planting, not to exceed $150 per acre with a cap of $750 per landowner.

A total of $13,500 is allocated for the program and no further funding will be available when that amount has been depleted.

Applications are being taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

Planting will occur after Aug. 1 and before Sept. 30 to meet United States Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Service guidelines.
