TELL CITY – The First Baptist Church of Tell City announces Dr. Bob I. Johnson will serve as the congregation’s interim pastor following the retirement of long-time pastor Lee Brown. He will lead in the Sunday worship services and be available for pastoral care. Johnson began his ministry Feb. 5.
Pastor Johnson comes to Tell City after serving for many years as pastor and theological educator. He also served as interim minister for a number of churches as well as a Church Consultant since retiring as the dean of Boyce Bible School at Southern Seminary in Louis-ville, Ky.
Johnson, who prefers to be called “Bob,” will lead the First Baptist Church through a period of transition that includes determining the church’s future focus and the profile of the next pastor to lead in realizing that dream.
His sermons will aim at aiding Christian growth in the areas of spirituality, stewardship, mission outreach and human justice.
First Baptist is an inclusive, mission-minded congregation. It actively welcomes visitors, especially those who are new in the area, those seeking to revitalize their faith and those who have no faith. Sunday services begin with Sunday school for all ages at 9 a.m. and worship at 10 a.m.
