TELL CITY—Ferdinand athletes dominated the first Schweizer Fest Fitness Games three-day competition hosted by New Directions Fitness Center last weekend.
Jeff Durlauf of Ferdinand won the men’s competition and Karri Meyer of Ferdinand took the women’s title.
The top three women and the top four men all train at the SIC Fitness gym.
Tell City High School athlete Mariah Blake, who trains at New Directions, came close to earning one of the three women’s awards. Had she finished just one place higher in the final event, she would have been third.
Two former Tell City athletes, sisters Allison and Marianne Krueger, finished right behind Blake.
Nick Bower was the highest finishing Perry Countian in the men’s competition, placing fifth. Travis Jones was sixth.
The games consisted of weightlifting (squat, bench press and dead lifts), the hundreds (mostly calisthenics), broad jump, two-mile road run, burpees, power cleans, push presses and box jumps.
