TELL CITY - Joe Troutman, his wife, Erica, and their infant daughter, Alexis Jo, escaped injury early Sunday when fire gutted their mobile home at 1880 Ninth St. Now they're trying to put back the pieces.
A fire believed to be electrical in origin began in a bedroom. Fortunately, the family was asleep in the living room. Troutman said the family dog awakened him. As he chastised the animal, Troutman noticed the smoke.
"The dog kept bugging me and I pushed her off me twice," he said. "As I was getting after her, I saw the hallway was full of smoke."
