Emergency loans available

PERRY COUNTY – Operators of family farms who suffered losses from extreme weather may be eligible for emergency loans through the Farm Service Agency office in Corydon.

Farmers in Perry and Spencer counties may be eligible if they felt impacts of dry weather beginning June 1 or from storms and flooding that took place Sept. 12 through Oct. 6.

Farmers must have suffered a qualifying loss of at least 30 percent, have the ability, training or experience to repay the loan and cannot obtain commercial credit. For more information, call the FSA office in Corydon at (812) 738-8121.

Farmers who suffered drought damage have until July 1 to apply for loans. Applications for loans to help recover from fall storms and flooding must be received by June 24.
