TELL CITY – The William Tell Elementary Media Club will present an adaptation of “The War of the Worlds” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 25 in the Tell City Junior-Senior High School auditorium.

The science-fiction novel, written by H.G. Wells in 1895, relates the story of a Martian invasion of Earth.

“In 1938, Orson Welles adapted it for an American audience and brought it to life in a live-radio broadcast on Halloween Eve,” wrote Pat Jarboe, media club adviser and fifth-grade teacher. “This caused a nationwide panic with a multitude of Americans thinking we were under attack by beings with an intelligence greater than our own.”

The media club students invite the community to attend the show and watch as they recreate the 1938 broadcast with a multi-media production. The show will include students from fourth, fifth and sixth grades portraying original cast members.

“We will provide our own little twist and will have a meet and greet with the cast after the show,” said Jarboe.

Admission is free, however free-will donations will be accepted at the door.
