EDITORIAL: Perry County Cares provides useful open-gym program

Childhood obesity is a problem nationwide, and locally we often hear kids say there is nothing to do.
Both problems are probably worse in July than any other month because kids are out of school and all “summer” recreation leagues (Little League, Babe Ruth League and girls softball) in Perry County concluded their seasons by the end of June. Thus, only kids who made all-star or travelling teams are still playing.
The rest have more than a month before school starts to sit around being bored or thinking of ways to get in trouble.
