Remember the 1987 football season when the NFL used replacement players for three regular-season games during a player strike?
One NFL team owner then reasoned that they could get away with using the substitutes because “the fans root for the suits,” meaning that a Dallas fan is going to root for whoever wears a Cowboys jersey and a helmet with a star on it on Sunday afternoons.
