Deputy: Shred your documents

TROY - Someone got into several Troy residents' trash overnight, Sheriff's Deputy Daymion Marsh said Wednesday morning, "and I want people to know what's going on" because identity theft could have been their motive.

He'd heard rumors a homeless person may be living in the area, and may have been responsible, he said. As a precaution, however, people should shred any documents that contain personal information before discarding them, he urged.
