Top headlines of the past year included city elections, school project

Incumbent mayors fall in 2007 elections

One of the biggest stories of the year was months in the making and came to a head on Election Day. Democrats won races for mayor in Tell City and Cannelton and kept control of both cities' common councils.

Five-term Tell City Clerk-Treasurer Barbara Ewing defeated incumbent Gayle Strassell in the race for Tell City's mayor. The final margin was 1,769 votes for Ewing and 1,145 for Strassell.
