Defense helps PC top Corydon

CORYDON—Improving serve reception helped Perry Central beat Corydon 25-13, 25-11, 25-8 in volleyball Thursday.
“Our serve-receive passing score was 2.22,” noted Perry Central Coach Becky Genet. That is almost to the Commodores’ goal of 2.25.
Maddie Hubert made 10 digs to lead the Commodores. Hannah Edwards and Grace James each added nine and Brittany Parker made eight.
The Commodores also featured a balanced spiking attack.
Jordan Sprinkle made eight kills, Ryann Lynch six, Hubert and Parker five apiece, and James three.
James had 23 assists.
Sprinkle made five blocks and Edwards and James each added two.
Parker went 17 for 18 serving with four aces. James added three aces.
Corydon won the JV match 25-23, 25-13.
Terissa Roark made three kills and five digs for Perry Central.
Sarah Lutgring also made three kills. Payton Emmons had nine assists and served two aces.
Perry Central, 3-0 in varsity matches and 0-2 in JV, will host North Harrison tonight at 5:30.
