Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis has hit 37 home runs at the all-star break, tying the American League record set by Reggie Jackson in 1969 and just two short of the major league record set by Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds in the seasons when they finished with at least 70.
Sammy Sosa, who hit 66 homers in 1998, 63 in 1999, and 64 in 2001, never had 37 at the all-star break.
So that must mean Davis is guaranteed to hit at least 60 this season and become a perennial 40- to 60-homer man every season, right?
