TELL CITY – Getting permission to cut curbs in Tell City will take more planning in the future. The Tell City Board of Public Works and Safety has given its OK to a committee's initial plan to create an application process for removing curbs for driveways, garages and other projects within the city.
Wastewater Superintendent Bruce Badger said the chief concern is ensuring the smooth flow of stormwater, a primary purpose of curbs. Some contractors do a good job at ensuring correct drainage is maintained when driveways are poured. Others are less meticulous, he said.
The committee of Badger, Councilman and Works Board member John Little, Building Inspector Bob Young and Street Commissioner Jeff Everly will finalize the application process for the board's review in coming weeks. Requirements will include a written plan of the proposed work and site visits before and after curbs are removed.
