TELL CITY – Perry County's unemployment rate swelled by 1.1 percent in July as an enduring weak labor market left more local workers seeking jobs.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development, in its report of July's unemployment data, said the county's jobless rate increased to 11.2 percent during the month, up from 10.1 percent in June and 9.9 percent in May.
July's county rate was more than twice the July 2008 rate of 5.1 percent.
