Perry County's commissioners declared a snow emergency Tuesday afternoon.
"This snow emergency is beyond the capabilities of the local county resources," their declaration states. "Perry County is unable to clear the snow from the roads to provide safe travel routes." Residents are encouraged to refrain from travel until the declaration expires at noon Friday.
The proclamation does not officially close any roads, but drivers are encouraged to remain at home except for essential travel, which can include going to work and emergency situations.
