TELL CITY – County-council members approved in a special meeting March 11 a funds transfer and salary-ordinance amendment needed after an employee was promoted.

The employee worked as a probation secretary and accepted a job in the prosecutor’s office, Perry Circuit Judge Lucy Goffinet explained, adding, “it would be a promotion for her.” A transfer of $470 from a furniture-and-fixtures to a part-time clerical line item within the county’s supplemental adult probation fund would cover a week of training for her replacement, the judge added.

The salary ordinance needed to be amended to reflect a $13.20 per hour for the training period, County Auditor Connie Berger said.

The council’s approval of both was unanimous.

The special meeting was needed, Berger explained, “because we needed to get the line item for the part-time clerical position (into) the budget before she hired the person to start.” The need arose only the preceding week and the employee was to begin working before the council’s next regular meeting, she also said.
