TELL CITY – Alan Cassidy will continue to serve as president of the county council this year and Stan Goffinet will be vice president after a reorganization of the county’s fiscal body at a regular meeting Jan. 24. CORRECTION: The News erroneously reported in its print edition Chet Mathena was elected president, but he was the councilman who nominated Cassidy.

Council members voted to continue meeting at 4:30 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month except when holidays interfere with that schedule. They also agreed to continue a legal-services agreement with attorney Jim Tyler.

Councilman Alan Cassidy will again serve as the council’s delegate to the Perry County Development Corp. annual meeting, scheduled for Feb. 21. Cassidy will also retain a seat on the Perry County Emergency Management Advisory Council.

Pete Franzman and John Oberhausen submitted letters expressing their interest in retaining positions on the county’s redevelopment commission. The council’s vote to reappoint them was unanimous.

Cassidy welcomed new Councilwoman Dianne Rudolph after adjourning their meeting.

“I hope you’ll put up with me,” she joked, drawing laughter from other members.
