The Indiana Department of Transportation's decision to change the flow of traffic at the intersection of 12th and Tell streets has caused confusion and consternation among some drivers over the past week.
INDOT is asking drivers to stay alert as motorists adjust to a new traffic pattern at the intersection. There is no longer a left-turn lane at this intersection and according to Tell City Police officers, all motorists will be going straight through the intersection at the green light, unless they have a turn signal on, indicating otherwise.
At Monday's meeting of the city's works board, Mayor Barbara Ewing said she planned to contact INDOT to place markings at the intersection to direct motorists. INDOT did not notify the city of the change and only issued a press release when drivers complained about close calls.
