Community to offer Ash Wednesday and Lenten programs

Tell City First United Methodist will offer an Ash Wednesday service will be held at Tell City First United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. March 5.

Bible study, youth and choir will not be held that evening but the youth and choir will be part of the service.

Deer Creek Baptist Church will host a women’s Bible study “Discerning the Voice of God – How to Recognize When God Speaks” by Pricilla Shirer. Sessions will be held Thursdays at 6 p.m. beginning Thursday and will be led by Cheri Taylor. Call Cheri at 619-6053 to sign up for the class.

A spring concert will be presented at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the church with dinner to follow. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Ladies of St. Michael Church will co-host the ladies’ Lenten prayer coffee with the Gospel Tabernacle Church and St. John’s United Church of Christ.

The prayer coffee will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. March 15 at the Gospel Tabernacle Church. Anyone who would like to take a simple treat may do so. Diabetic treats are also requested.

The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand are offering a program titled “St. Benedict and Lent: A Holy Season; Do You Have the Strength For It?” that will examine various ways to live Lent.

The program will be held from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday at Kordes Center in Ferdinand. It will be presented by Sister Karen Joseph OSB, who has served in various leadership roles throughout her monastic life.

She is a spiritual director and has given retreats and workshops in Benedictine Spirituality throughout North America.
The workshop will explore ways to connect Lent to daily life so participants might look forward to each day with joy through Holy Easter.

Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand will offer a Lenten prayer program Tuesdays during Lent.

“A Holy Pause …. A Time to Step Away” will include midday prayer with the sisters, a soup luncheon, Lectio, and a time for group reflection. Participants can also choose to stay after the program for additional personal reflection or just spend time visiting the monastery grounds. The program is being offered from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. EST Tuesdays beginning March 11.

The Men’s Lenten Breakfast Fellowship Group of Perry County’s first Lenten breakfast will be Saturday at Cannelton United Church of Christ. Breakfasts will be held Saturdays during Lent from 7 to 8 a.m. Donations are $3.
