Legion pork-chop dinner Saturday
TELL CITY – American Legion Post 213 in Tell City will sell pork-chop dinners starting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the post home.
Dinners will include pork chops, creek fries and baked beans. Cost is $8 per meal.

Cheri Taylor in concert Sunday at First Baptist Church
TELL CITY – Cheri Taylor of Lamar will be in concert in Tell City at 10 a.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church. For more than 30 years, Taylor has faithfully followed the path that God has set for her in ministry.
Blessed with a dynamic singing voice, Cheri delights in a gospel music thrust to present the word of God to her audience.
The public is cordially invited to share in this special event.

Cannelton cemetery clean up continues
CANNELTON – Cannelton employees will work to clean up the cemetery for the Memorial Day weekend.
Any old flowers left on stones or cemetery grounds will be removed this week.

PCMH to offer free quit- smoking class
TELL CITY – Perry County Memorial Hospital will offer a free quit smoking class from 6 to 7 p.m. today.
“Freshstart,” an American Cancer Society program, provides effective tools to use while individuals quit the habit of smoking.

St. Paul to host TGIF party
TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City will host an evening out for adults 21 and older June 8.
Beer, brats, burgers and a band will be at a TGIF party in the St. Paul church parking lot from 7 to 11 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by “Above the Law.”
All adults are invited.

St. John’s chicken, ham supper June 9
NEW BOSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church, located a half mile west of New Boston, will have its annual chicken and ham supper June 9. Serving will begin at 4:30 p.m.
In addition to fried chicken and ham, there will be a variety of vegetables, desserts and homemade bread.
A country store will have crafts, baked items, quilts, fresh produce, plants and numerous other items. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy.

Football families to meet
LEOPOLD – Perry Central football families will gather for a meeting at 6 p.m. June 12 in the high-school study hall.

VNA Plus blood-pressure, blood-sugar screenings
TELL CITY – The Visiting Nurse Association Plus conducts blood-pressure and blood-sugar screenings each month at Twilight Towers.
The next screening will be from 9 to 10 a.m. today. For more information, call VNA at 547-7967.

PCMH to offer screenings Tuesdays
TELL CITY – Perry County Memorial Hospital conducts blood-pressure and blood-sugar screenings every Tuesday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Wal-Mart in Tell City.
The screenings are offered free of charge to the public.

Cookbooks to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Association
TELL CITY – Anita Sanders, team captain for Kroessman Krusaders Alz-heimer’s fundraising team, and co-chair Nadina Paulin are selling cookbooks to raise money for the 2012 Memory Walk benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association.
The books sell for $10 each and all proceeds go to the association. Anyone interested in purchasing a book can contact Sanders at 547-6787 or 719-0816.
