Twilight Towers dance Friday
TELL CITY – Twilight Towers in Tell City will host Dancing Under the Stars at 6 p.m. Friday.
Entertainment will be provided by George and the Country Boys and is open to the public. Those attending are asked to take lawn chairs.

Open talent contest to be held
PERRY COUNTY – A talent show will be held at the Perry County 4-H Fair at 2 p.m. July 16 at the outside stage.
The competition is open to all ages and acts. Cash prizes will be awarded.

PCSAC accepting grant requests
PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Substance Abuse Committee will accept grant requests during the month of June.
Grant applications are available online at www.perrycountysubstanceabuse.org. Deadline for submitting applications is 3 p.m. June 24. Applications can be mailed to PCSAC, P.O. Box 442, Tell City, or drop off applications to Diane Conner, coordinator, at First United Methodist Church in Tell City.

CPR-first aid class June 18
TELL CITY – The Perry County Red Cross will offer a CPR-first aid class from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at the Tell City-Perry County Library. Pre-registration is required.

Oakwood to host book, purse sale
TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus will hold a used purse and book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 22 in the Assisted Living Lobby.
Anyone wishing to donate any gently used purses or books may drop them off at Oakwood prior to the sale. All proceeds of the sale will go to the 2011 Independence From Hunger Food Drive to help fill the shelves of Perry County Food Banks.

Marching 5k race, pancake breakfast July 2
LEOPOLD – Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to a 5k race at Perry Central schools July 2.
Sign in is at 6:30 a.m. with the race starting at 7:30. Registration forms and preview of the participant T-shirt can be found at www.marching5k.com. Online registration is also available.
Sponsorships are available with T-shirt logo and Web link. Prizes include a three-month membership to Everbody’s to the men’s overall winner; a prize to the wo-men’s overall winner and one ticket to Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari to each of the overall winners in the girls and boys 14 and under race.
Top finishers will be listed in the Perry County News.
A pancake breakfast will be available during the morning. Cost is $5 and it is open to all. Both events are sponsored by the Perry Central Band Boosters.

Hillbilly golf scramble July 9
BRANCHVILLE – Branchville’s first Hillbilly Golf Scramble is scheduled for July 9 at the Old English Golf Course.
Cost is $45 per person with four people minimum per team. All-you-can-eat burgers and hot dogs will be provided to teams. Festivities will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

VNA Plus to offer blood- pressure, blood-sugar screenings
TELL CITY – Visiting Nurse Association Plus will offer free blood-pressure and blood-sugar screenings in Tell City.
Screenings are scheduled from 8:30 to 10 a.m. June 21 at Wal-Mart and from 9 to 10 a.m. June 28 at Twilight Towers.

Dale town yard sales Friday, Saturday
DALE – The eighth annual town-wide yard sale in Dale is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Organizers urge the community to check out the bargains all over town.
Vendor registration fees will benefit the back-to-school-supply program and Toys for Kids program at Christmas.

Humane society meeting Tuesday
TELL CITY – The Humane Society of Perry County will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The meeting will take place at Fifth Third Bank in Tell City.

Terry Lock Memorial Golf Scramble Monday
PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Democrat Central Committee will host the annual Terry Lock Memorial Democrat Golf Scramble Monday at Christmas Lake Golf Course.
Registration begins at noon. Entry fee is $65 per golfer, which includes free drinks and snacks on the golf course and dinner that evening.
Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. at Mulzer Camp west of Troy. Prizes will follow the meal.
Dinner tickets for nongolfers are $15. Sponsorships are available at various levels.

Southern Indiana Republican golf scramble Tuesday
SANTA CLAUS – The Southern Indiana Republicans of Dubois, Perry and Spencer counties will host a golf scramble Tuesday at the Christmas Lake Country Club.
Tee off time is set for 12:30 p.m.
There will be a shotgun start for the four-person scramble and dinner will be provided afterward. Cost is $400 per team or $100 for a single-person registration. Mulligans will be available at the tournament.
Hole sponsorships are available for $100.
