PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Community Foundation will host its third annual Trivia Night Fundraiser this year, which offers light-hearted competition for know-it-all trivia junkies and some fun for those who simply enjoy supporting a good cause.
The event will be held Jan. 19 at the Schergens Center in Tell City. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The trivia game will begin at 7 p.m. Reservations are required to attend the event.
“The proceeds of the trivia night strengthen the foundation’s ability to meet our needs in our community and assist our efforts in keeping philanthropy an integral part of our community,” said foundation director Renate Warner. “We invite you to be a part of this mind-battling, ego-bruising trivia fun.”
Groups of individuals, including civic groups, businesses, churches or just friends and family are invited to create teams and participate in the evening. The winning team will win a grant that will go to a local charity of the winning team’s choice. The winning grant will be $500 and generated from the proceeds from the trivia night. Second- and third-place teams will receive gifts donated from local businesses, and the last-place team will be given an encouragement award. Each participant will receive a keepsake glass and will be served a meal catered by New Boston Tavern.
The cost is $250 per table with up to eight participants per team. A cash bar will be available. Categories will include geography, entertainment, history, arts and literature, science and nature, sports and leisure and Perry County history.
The night will feature Jim Adams and Steve Upmeyer as the emcees for the event. Also new this year is a silent auction. Local businesses have donated items that can be bid on during the evening.
Registration can be accomplished by completing a registration form and payment of $250. Forms are available online at www.perrycommunityfoundation.org/trivia-night or by requesting one from the foundation. Registrations and payments are due to the foundation by 4 p.m. Jan. 4.
