DAR first meeting set for today
CANNELTON – The Daughters of the American Revolution Lafayette Spring Chapter will hold its first meeting for the 2012-13 year at 6 p.m. today at the Patio Steak House. Those who wish to learn more about DAR are invited to attend.

TC Cub Pack 192 roundup today
TELL CITY – Tell City Cub Pack 192 will have sign-ups for new scouts at 6:30 p.m. today at St. Paul Catholic Church Parish, located on Main Street in Tell City.
Boys in first through fifth grades are invited to attend.

We The Youth car wash Saturday
TELL CITY – We The Youth of Perry County will host a car wash from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Lincoln Park Plaza in Tell City.
Rain date is set for 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 15 at the same location. Donations will also be accepted.
Baumann to speak Saturday
TELL CITY – Guest speaker Timothy Baumann, curator of archaeology at Indiana University’s Glenn A. Black Laboratory of Archaeology, will present a lecture on the German Ridge Heritage Project at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Perry County Public Library – Tell City branch meeting room.
This presentation will highlight the 2012 archaeological excavations on a farmstead that was first occupied by American settlers in the 1840s and then by German immigrants in the 1870s.
Zumba classes to be offered at high school
TELL CITY – Tell City Junior-Senior High School will offer Zumba classes to the public free of charge. The classes will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays at William Tell Elementary in the commons area on the third- through fifth-grade side of the building and from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays at TCJSHS in the auditorium.
The classes will begin Tuesday. These classes are funded through a Welborn Baptist Coordinated School Health Grant.
Craft, vendors bazaar at VFW
TELL CITY – The Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host a fall craft and vendors bazaar Oct. 27.
Tables are available for $10 each. Anyone wanting to reserve a table or who has questions can call Kim Pat-rick at 719-8255 or send e-mail to patrickkt2000@ yahoo.com.
VFW family picnic Sunday
TROY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will hold its annual family picnic Sunday at the Mulzer Camp west of Troy.
The post will furnish chicken and creek fries. The members attending are asked to take a covered dish. The dinner will begin at 12:30 p.m.
Football families to gather
LEOPOLD – The Perry Central football families meeting is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Perry Central School study hall.
Tractor ride Sept. 15
PERRY COUNTY – The Ohio Valley Tractor Association will host a tractor ride Sept. 15, starting at Dixon’s Auction House in Tell City at 10 a.m.
The route will take participants to Leopold Park for the 175th celebration of St. Augustine Catholic Church. All tractors, new and old, are welcome to attend.

Help Kroessman’s Krusaders
TELL CITY – Residents of the county can help Kroessman’s Krusaders fundraising efforts for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s by visiting Ponderosa Steakhouse in Tell City from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
By clipping out this newsbrief and presenting it to the cashier, the team will receive 10 percent of each ticket sale that day.

Optimist club to host annual golf scramble
TELL CITY – The Tell City Optimist Club will host its annual golf scramble Sept. 22 at the Tell City Hoosier Heights Country Club. Tee time is 9 a.m.
Entry fee is $35 per person, includes all fees, cart, sandwich and drink.

Hunter-ed class in Evansville
EVANSVILLE – Angel Mounds State Historic Site will sponsor an Indiana Hunter Education program from 8 a.m. Sept. 29 and 30. Attendance of both days is mandatory.
Indiana law requires that any one born after Dec. 31, 1986, must attend this course in order to purchase a hunting license. The course is free.
The class will be geared toward youth, but all ages are welcome. Those attending are asked to take writing utensils. Refreshments will not be served and pre-registration is required by calling (812) 789-9538.
Twilight Towers tenant dinner
TELL CITY – Twilight Towers will host a dinner for residents only at 5 p.m. Sept. 21. Entertainment will be provided by the band Crosswinds starting at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend and listen to the band at 6.
