St. Paul Catholic Church to hold fish fry
TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will hold a fish fry at the church Friday. Serving will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Dine in and carryout will be available. The proceeds from the event will go toward reducing the church debt.
The dinner will be similar to the annual Boy Scout fish fry, held every year during Lent. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 years and under. The community is invited to attend for an all-you-can-eat meal.

Open-mic poetry night
TELL CITY – The Tell City Regional Arts Association will host an open-mic poetry night Friday, Nov. 5 for all area poetry lovers. The event will be held at the Tell City Star Café, 413 Main Street in Tell City, beginning at 6 p.m.
Poets are welcome to attend and read their own work, or attendees may also recite the work of others. Registration is not required, but is appreciated by calling 608-1305.

Hunter-ed class Oct. 30
TELL CITY – A hunter-education class sponsored by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and area conservation officers is planned for Saturday, Oct. 30, at Tell City High School.
Officer Robert Brewington said the class begins at 8 a.m. and will continue to around 6 p.m. It will be held in the school auditorium.

TC Moose autumn soup, dinners Saturday
TELL CITY – The Tell City Moose Lodge will hold their autumn soup, chicken and pork-chop dinner sale Saturday at the lodge. Serving will begin at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $7 per dinner and $12 per gallon of soup. Containers for soup will be provided.
Dinners will include chicken or pork-chop, creek fries and green beans.

CHS 2011 to sell dinners Sunday
CANNELTON – The Cannelton Class of 2011 will sell chicken dinners, complete with creek fries and green beans, at the Cannelton firehouse from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
The cost is $7 per dinner.

St. Meinrad legion to sell dinners
SPENCER COUNTY – The St. Meinrad American Legion will sponsor a barbecued-chicken and pork chop dinner Sunday.
Serving will begin at 9 a.m. and dinners will be available at the Village Hut in Fulda and at the legion home.
A euchre tourney will also start at 1 p.m. and a maintenance raffle will be held at 4 p.m. The Legion will also have an open house for everyone to attend.
There is also euchre tourneys at the legion weekly at 6 p.m. Thursdays.

PC Coon Club shooting match
TELL CITY – The Perry County Coon Club will hold its annual fall shooting match Oct. 24 at the coon clubhouse.
A ham shoot will be at 11:30 a.m. and the closed match will begin at 2:30 p.m. First choice will be half beef.

St. Meinrad fundraiser
ST. MEINRAD – A Mary Kay “Mascary” open house fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 24 for the St. Meinrad Sesquicentennial.
Those interested are encouraged to attend the event at Carol Troesch’s home, 1967 N. Fifth Street, St. Meinrad. The group will share makeup and skin care tips, shop many makeup treats and receive satin hand treatments. Signups for prize giveaways will also be available. Samples of many Mary Kay products will be displayed and those attending can enjoy a cup of spic-ed cider and Halloween treats.

Benefit trail ride Saturday
TELL CITY – A benefit trail ride will be held for Diane (Sabelhaus) James at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club in Tell City.
It will be a half-day ride with donations only. Bridle tags will be available on site. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available at the end of the ride. A half-pot drawing will also be held.

Horseman’s club euchre tourney
TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will have a euchre tourney Saturday at the clubhouse on Summer Road, just north of Tell City.
The event is open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. with games starting at 7 p.m.

Special education workshop
TELL CITY – A workshop with an introduction to basic special-education rights and responsibilities in Indiana will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Perry County Memorial Hospital Conference Room C.
The workshop will cover basic information primarily geared to parents, but teaching staffs are welcome to attend.
Topics to be discussed include the case conference, parent responsibilities, the IEP and dispute resolution. The workshop is free and open to the public.

Clear Creek to play at legion
TELL CITY – Clear Creek band will play at Tell City American Legion Post 213 Saturday. Cover charge is $3 per person or $5 per couple. Anyone with a group of six or less can reserve a round table for $20. A cash bar will also be open. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the band will begin at 9.

Breast Cancer 5K walk Sunday
OWENSBORO, Ky. – Join the fight against breast cancer by participating in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk Sunday around the Kentucky Wesleyan College campus in Owensboro.
Registration begins at 1 p.m. The walk starts at 2 p.m. The event typically attracts thousands of people to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate women about the importance of reducing their cancer risk and raise money to fund lifesaving research and support programs to further our progress against this disease.

Four-wheeler raffle Sunday
ST. MEINRAD – The St. Meinrad Sesquicentennial Committee will sponsor a raffle for a Honda 420 4-wheeldrive four-wheeler. Tickets are now available at local businesses or by calling (812) 357-2178. Tickets are $20 each and only 500 will be sold.
The drawing will be held Sunday or when all tickets are sold. All proceeds will go to the St. Meinrad Ses-quicentennial Celebration, which will be held June 9-12, 2011.

Perry County chess club to meet Oct. 26
TELL CITY – The Perry County Chess Club will meet for its monthly gathering from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the Tell City-Perry County Public Library.
Chess instruction will be given for 30 minutes before participants are allowed to play games for the remaining time.
All participants, including beginners, are welcome to attend.

Fall fest for kids at Orscheln’s
TELL CITY – Orscheln Farm and Home store will sponsor a free fall festival for kids from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 30. There will be games and activities for children. They can also have their pictures taken in costumes.
The Rome Volunteer Fire Department will have their fire trucks available for children to see. They will also sell food and drinks.

Euchre tourney at Sportsman Club Nov. 6
FULDA – Fulda Sportsman Club will host a big euchre tourney at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at the club. Doors open at 6 p.m.
There will be six 20-min-ute games with cash prizes awarded at the end of play.
Refreshments will be furnished.

Legion to host steak dinner
TELL CITY – Tell City American Legion Post 213 will hold a steak dinner Friday, Oct. 29 at the legion. Serving will be from 5 to 9 p.m.
Dinner includes steak, baked potato and salad for $8.95. The public is invited to attend.

First UMC holiday bazaar Nov. 10
TELL CITY – The First United Methodist Church, corner of 10th and Mozart streets in Tell City, will hold its holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at the church.
Crafts, baked goods, a candy store, homemade noodles and attic treasures will be available at the event. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Sportsman Inn to sell chicken dinners
TELL CITY – The Sportsman Inn in Tell City will have a chicken dinner fundraiser at 1 p.m. Oct. 30.
Dinners will cost $7 and include chicken, creek fries, cabbage and corn.
Drive up service will be available, weather permitting. The community is invited to stay for raffles and dart games. All proceeds from the day will go to the Alexander family in memory of Traci Alexander.
