Indiana Horse Rescue to host yard sale
TELL CITY – Indiana Horse Rescue South will host a yard sale as a part of the Highway 66 yard sales Saturday.
The group is asking the community to donate yard-sale items to raise money for the horses. The sale location has changed to the former Movie Gallery building in Lincoln Park Plaza on Indiana 66 in Tell City.

Ladies Day Out Friday
TELL CITY – Businesses in Tell City will be a part of a “Ladies Day Out” event from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Ladies visiting participating businesses will be able to enter for basket giveaways and shop specials in each store.
Businesses taking part in the Ladies Day Out include Burris LeClere Eye Center, Capers, Celebrations, Cinderella’s, Flower Basket, Gatherings, Maurices, Nita’s Alterations, Now & Then, Skinsations Esthetician & Boutique, Tell City Star Café and William Tell Antiques and Collectibles.
A wine tasting will be held in City Hall Park from 4 to 7 p.m. and include selections from the Wine Shak and Winzerwald Winery.

Mu Gamma to meet today
TELL CITY – Mu Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at Golden Years Living Center-Lincoln Hills at 6 p.m. today to socialize and play bingo with residents. Hostesses will be Carolyn Craddock, Tina Ziegelgruber and Shir-ley Quick.
The chapter will also meet Friday and Saturday at the Bonny Pearl cabin in Derby for a fall weekend of fun and fellowship.

Democrat Headquarters hours set
TELL CITY – The Democrat Headquarters will be open Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. Anyone interested in yard signs, absentee applications or other information is asked to stop by 1120 Ruben Street, Tell City.

First UMC holiday bazaar Nov. 10
TELL CITY – The First United Methodist Church, at 10th and Mozart streets in Tell City, will hold its holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at the church.
Crafts, baked goods, a candy store, homemade noodles and attic treasures will be available at the event.
Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Benefit trail ride Oct. 23
TELL CITY – A benefit trail ride will be held for Diane (Sabelhaus) James at 10 a.m. Oct. 23 at the Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club in Tell City.
It will be a half-day trail with donations only. Bridle tags will be available on site.
Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available at the end of the ride. A half-pot drawing will also be held.

PC Animal Shelter yard sale Saturday
CANNELTON – The Perry County Animal Shelter will host a yard sale from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16. The Perry County Animal Shelter is located at 200 Herzelle Street in Cannelton.
All proceeds from the sales will go toward the care of the animals housed at the shelter

Blood-donation opportunity Friday
TELL CITY – A blood drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City.
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood-donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
Individuals who are 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High-school students and other donors 18 years old and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Barbecued-rib dinners at Legion
TELL CITY – Tell City American Legion Post 213 will sell barbecued-rib dinners Saturday at the Legion.
Serving will start at 11 a.m. and dinners will include one pound of ribs, creek fries and baked beans. Meals will be available inside the Legion.

Tell City Wrestling Club to sell dinners
TELL CITY – Tell City Junior-Senior High School Wrestling Club will hold a chicken and pork-chop cook out fundraiser Sunday.
Serving will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Zoercher-Bettinger Park on Watt Street. Dinners include chicken or pork chop, creek fries and slaw. Cost is $7.

Grief support meetings in Cannelton
CANNELTON – Aseracare Hospice will hold grief-support group meetings every other Wednesday starting Wednesday.
Meetings will start at noon and be held at the Perry County Council on Aging, 200 N. Fifth Street in Cannelton.

Horseman’s club euchre tourney
TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will have a euchre tourney Saturday, Oct. 23 at the clubhouse on Summer Road, just north of Tell City.
The event is open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m. with games starting at 7 p.m.

Special-education workshop
TELL CITY – A workshop with an introduction to basic special education rights and responsibilities in Indiana will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at Perry County Memorial Hospital Conference Room C.
The workshop will cover basic information primarily geared to parents, but teaching staffs are welcome to attend.
Topics to be discussed include the case conference, parent responsibilities, the IEP and dispute resolution. The workshop is free and open to the public.

Euchre tourney at Sportsman Club Nov. 6
FULDA – Fulda Sportsman Club will host a big euchre tourney at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at the club. Doors open at 6 p.m.
There will be six 20-min-ute games with cash prizes awarded at the end of play.
Refreshments will be furnished.

Perry County Cooking with Style
TELL CITY – The public is invited to learn a new recipe at the Schergens Center with the Community Learning Center of Perry County.
Classes start at 6 p.m. and cost $7 per person. The program will end Oct. 19.

TELL CITY – The American Red Cross will host CPR classes from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Tell City-Perry County Public Library in Tell City.

K of C offers dinner service to public
TELL CITY – The Knights of Columbus, 947 11th St., opens its dining room to the public and serves dinners from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday nights.
Fiddlers, catfish filets and tilapia will be offered each week along with fried chicken and ribeye steaks on special.

VNA to offer blood-pressure, blood-sugar screenings
TELL CITY – Visiting Nurse Association will offer free blood-pressure and blood-sugar screenings at Wal-Mart and Twilight Towers in Tell City.
Screenings are scheduled from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wal-Mart and from 9 to 10 a.m. Oct. 26 at Twilight Towers.

Mums for Relay
TELL CITY – German American’s lobbies are blooming, even though the leaves are falling.
Each location is selling mums to benefit the German American Relay for Life team. Plants are $5 each.

Karaoke contest at the Legion
TELL CITY – Tell City American Legion Post 213 sponsors a karaoke contest Friday nights at the Legion from now until Dec. 17.
The first 13 weeks of the contest are qualifying rounds and final judging will be Dec. 17.
Special awards will be given for perfect attendance. Judging is by members of local bands.
Cash prizes will be given Dec. 17. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with qualifying starting at 7.
Cover charge is $2 per person. A cash bar and grill will be open at 6 p.m.

Haunted Museum in Fulda
FULDA – Teens Aware of Christ will have their annual haunted house from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 22 and 23 and from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 24 at St. Boniface Parish Center in Fulda. Cost for the Haunted Museum is $4 each or six tickets for $20. Matinee is $3.
Donations will go to youth attending National Catholic Youth Conference 2011.
