Democrats rally Friday
TELL CITY – The Perry County Democrats will host a Democrat Rally at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Knights of Columbus. The team of 2012 Democrat candidates will provide hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks. A cash bar will be available.
The public is invited to attend. There will be music and dancing and a chance to meet the candidates. Music will be provided by the Mystical Melody Kings band. Admission to the rally is free.

Moose Lodge annual soup, chicken dinner
TELL CITY – Tell City Moose Lodge will have its annual “famous” soup and chicken dinner sale Saturday at the lodge on Dauby Lane in Tell City.
Serving will start at 11 a.m. outside the lodge and soup will cost $12 per gallon and chicken dinners will be $7. Dinners will include chicken, creek fries and green beans. Those purchasing soup are asked to take their own containers.

Santa Claus Optimist annual breakfast
SANTA CLAUS – The Santa Claus Optimist Club will host its annual pancake and sausage breakfast Saturday at the Santa Claus Community Center.  
Serving will be from 6 to 9:30 a.m. The cost is $6 per adult and $4 for children under 12. Tickets may be purchased in advance from an optimist member or at the door.

Troy FD fall soup sale Sunday
TROY – The Troy Fire Department annual fall soup sale will be Sunday at the Troy Fire House.
Serving will begin at 11 a.m. Those purchasing soup by the gallon are asked to take their own containers.

Rome Mason Lodge dinner Saturday
ROME – The Rome Lodge Free and Accepted Masons will hold a carry-in supper at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
All masons, families and friends are invited.

Football families meeting
LEOPOLD – The Perry Central Football Families will meet at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 in the high school study hall.

Covered Wagon to host Parmalee
CANNELTON – KLF Entertainment will present Parmalee in concert Nov. 9 at the Covered Wagon in Cannelton.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 8. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. They can be purchased at www.klfentertainment.com.
Opening acts will include Jaclyn Graves and Jeremy Luecke.

Cannelton schools to honor veterans
CANNELTON – Cannelton City Schools will host its annual Veterans Day Program Nov. 9. The event will begin at 1 p.m. in the Cannelton Community Center. All Veterans and their families are encouraged to attend.
The program will include a guest speaker, songs from elementary students, a high-school speech will be read and a tribute to veterans will be given.

Veterans’ Day dinner Nov. 11
CANNELTON – The Harry G. Myers Cannelton Post 142, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion members and spouses are invited to a Veterans’ Day dinner Nov. 11 at the post home.
Social hour will be at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6. Meat will be provided and members are asked to take a dessert of a side dish.

St. Meinrad legion dinners Nov. 11
ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad American Legion will sell barbecue-chicken and pork-chop dinners Nov. 11. Dinners will be available after church at Village Hut in Fulda, St. Meinrad Church, St. Martin Church in Siberia and St. Meinrad American Legion home.  
A maintenance and repair raffle will take place at l p.m. There will be an open house at the legion post for everyone to attend.

Veterans Day celebration at Tell City school
TELL CITY – The Tell City Junior-Senior High School will host a celebration to honor local veterans at 8 a.m. Nov. 12.
A free breakfast will be offered to all veterans. Parking will be available in the Fulton Street parking lot.

SonShine rummage sale Nov 8 - 10
NEW BOSTON – The SonShine Early Learning Ministry will host a rummage sale inside St. John’s Lutheran Church from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 8 and 9 and from 7 a.m. to noon Nov. 10.
A free pair of shoes will be given with every purchase. Baked goods, including sugar-free pies, will be available.
The group will have men’s, women’s, maternity, children’s and baby clothes, toys and much more, including cribs with mattresses and a barely used Intex pool. The sale will be inside, rain or shine.
The church is located just west of New Boston.

United Pentecostal deer dinner
BRISTOW – The annual deer dinner at United Pentecostal Church, 20843 State Road 145 in Bristow, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 17.
The menu will include fried chicken, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, various vegetables, desserts, coffee, tea and lemonade.
Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 10 years and under. The dinner is open to everyone.

Republican headquarters office hours
TELL CITY – The Republican Headquarters in Tell City will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday every week until after election.
Anyone with questions about the election, voting, etc. are invited to stop in.

Living Bread Food Pantry open to public
TELL CITY – The Living Bread Food Pantry, an outreach program of Tell Street Baptist Church, offers prayer, Christian guidance and food to the needy families in the surrounding area.
Anyone is invited to schedule an appointment on any Saturday of the month by calling 547-4500 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Only two appointments per person per month are allowed.
Inquiries about the church’s Sunday services are also welcome.

VNA Plus plans screenings
TELL CITY – The Visiting Nurse Association Plus will not conduct blood-pressure and blood-sugar screenings during November. The next screening will be in December.

Zumba classes at Perry Central
LEOPOLD – Zumba classes are held at Perry Central at 6:30 p.m. in the school cafetorium each Monday.
Classes will last for one hour and cost for is $5 every Monday. A portion of each month’s proceeds will be donated to a charitable cause.
Donations from October will go to the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. Everyone is invited to participate.

Zumba class change
TELL CITY – Everbody’s in Tell City and Perry County Wellness are sponsoring Zumba classes at the Schergens Center at 6:30 p.m. every Monday .
Cost is $3 per class or $12 for five sessions. Perry County students will be admitted to classes for free.
Those attending are asked to wear athletic shoes, take water and a towel and to arrive a few minutes early to sign in.
Due to Election Day preparations, the class Nov. 5 will be moved to the gym at William Tell Elementary School.
