Funds needed to help local man
HAWESVILLE, Ky. – Joshua Goatley of Hawes-ville needs a kidney transplant.
To help raise funds for medical costs, an account has been set up at German American banks.
The account is under the name Joshua Goatley - kidney transplant donations.

PC football meeting Tuesday
LEOPOLD – The Perry Central football families will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Perry Central High School study hall room.

Sesquicentennial cookbooks available
TELL CITY – Due to a large demand, Mu Gamma sorority has ordered 200 more copies of the Tell City Sesquicentennial cookbooks.
The books can be purchased at the Tell City Hallmark store or Celebrations on Main Street.
Cost is $10 per book.

St. Meinrad Fall Fest quilt show
ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad Parish Fall Festival Quilt Show will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the St. Meinrad Catholic Church.
The public is invited to attend and see the quilts and vote for the special quilts to be given away at the St. Meinrad Parish Fall Festival Sept. 18.

Euchre in Fulda July 23
FULDA – The Fulda Sportsman Club will host a euchre tourney July 23 at the club.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with play beginning at 7 p.m.
There will be six 20-minute games with prizes awarded at the end of the night. Refreshments will be provided and the public is welcome.

Open talent contest to be held Saturday
PERRY COUNTY – A talent show will be held at the Perry County 4-H Fair at 2 p.m. Saturday at the outside stage.
The competition is open to all ages and acts. Cash prizes will be awarded.

St. Boniface quilt show Sunday
FULDA – St. Boniface Parish quilt show will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday the historical St. Boniface Church, Fulda, off Highway 545.
The quilt show is open to the public. Those attending will be asked to vote for their favorite quilts.
The St. Boniface Church picnic will be Sunday, Aug. 7.

St. Meinrad Legion to hold luau Friday
ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366 will have a Hawaiian get away Friday.
Roasted-pork dinners will be served starting at 11 a.m. and will be available for dine in or carry out. There will also be specials on drinks and food.
Prizes and give-aways will also be held. The public is invited to attend.

VNA Plus to offer blood-pressure, blood-sugar screenings
TELL CITY – Visiting Nurse Association Plus will offer free blood-pressure and blood-sugar screenings in Tell City.
Screenings are scheduled from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wal-Mart and from 9 to 10 a.m. July 26 at Twilight Towers.

Boys and Girls Club collecting car donations
PERRY COUNTY – Many Boys and Girls Clubs are currently running car campaigns.
Cars do not have to be functional to be donated.
Donated cars are sold at auction and the funds generated help support the clubs’ many programs.

Local families needed for exchange students
PERRY COUNTY – ASSE International Student Exchange Program is seeking local families to host boys and girls between the ages of 15 and 18 from a variety of countries around the world.
Students come with an enthusiasm to practice their English and experience American culture. In addition, students have pocket money for personal expenses and full health, accident and liability insurance.

Ferdinand Legion to host shooting match
FERDINAND – Ferdinand American Legion will host shooting matches every Friday night for beef and pork.
The closed match will start at 8:30 p.m. First choice is half a beef.

Social Security reps to visit TC
TELL CITY – A representative from the Social Security office will be available to answer questions and provide information to county residents during the coming months.
Most Social Security business can be conducted by phone; however, if you prefer, you can meet with a representative Aug. 10 or Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at City Hall in Tell City.

St. Meinrad K of C picnic Saturday
ST. MEINRAD – The St. Meinrad Knights of Columbus will host its picnic Saturday at the K of C home.
Plate lunches will be served beginning at noon. Patrons are invited to dine in at the air conditioned K of C home or carry out dinners. The menu includes barbecued chicken, pork chops and sandwiches.
The K of C’s “famous soup” will also be available starting at 11 a.m. The soup will be sold by the bowl or gallon. Those wishing to purchase soup by the gallon are asked to take their own containers. Call the K of C home to pre order.
A live band, Brain Mount and The Lonely Riders, will entertain from 8 p.m. to midnight and a horseshoe tourney will begin at 1 p.m.
Games for kids and a raffle with more than 50 prizes will also be a part of the day’s activities.
