VFW open house Saturday
TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 in Tell City will host an open house and buffet breakfast Saturday at the post home.
The menu will include biscuits, gravy, fried potatoes, sausage, bacon, eggs and pancakes.
Cost is $5 plus tax. Doors will open at 8 a.m. and all are invited.
St. Meinrad legion Valentine dine, dance
ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366 will host a Valentine dine and dance Feb. 9 at the St. Meinrd American Legion Hall.
Tickets need to be purchased in advance at the post home or by calling (812) 357-5583. Admission price is $15 per person and includes a meal, drinks and admittance to the dance.
Music will be provided by the Good Time Country Band. The meal will be served at 5:30 p.m.
Chicken dinners Sunday in TC
TELL CITY – American Legion Post 213 in Tell City will sell fried-chicken dinners beginning at noon Sunday at the post home.
Dinners will cost $4.95 and include two sides. Dine in or carryout will be available.
Bunco night at Cannelton Legion
CANNELTON – The Cannelton Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a bunco night Tuesday. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and games will start at 6:30.
Entry fee is a $5 donation.
All proceeds will go to the Cannelton American Legion. Free refreshments will be served.
Prizes will be awarded to first, second, third and last place.
Parent-enrichment program today
TELL CITY – Lincoln Hills Development Corp. Early Head Start invites the public to attend a parent-enrichment program scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon today at LHDC Early Head Start, 321 Ninth Street in Tell City.
The January topic is nutrition with speaker Heather Shrum of Martha Gregory and Associates. Light refreshments will be served.

Karen’s Angels Relay fundraiser Saturday
HUNTINGBURG – Karen’s Angels Relay for Life team in Spencer County will host a Strike Out Cancer fundraiser at 2 p.m. Saturday at Break Away Lanes in Huntingburg.
Cost is a $10 donation per player for adults and an $8 donation for children 12 years and younger.
The donation will include two games and shoe rental. Prizes will be awarded and a silent auction is planned.

Horseman Club sponsoring euchre games
TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman Club will host euchre games now through March. Events will continue Feb. 2, Feb. 16 and March 2, 16 and 30.
Chili, hot dogs, desserts, soft drinks and coffee will be available at 6 p.m. with games at 7. Cost at the door is $5 per person.
Prizes will be awarded for high points. First place will receive $50, second-place $30 and third place $20.

Tractor association to meet today

VNA Plus plans screenings
TELL CITY – The Visiting Nurse Association Plus conducts blood-pressure and blood-sugar screenings each month at Twilight Towers. The next screening will be from 9 to 10 a.m. today.

DAR members to gather Feb. 7
CANNELTON – The Lafayette Spring Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 6 p.m. Feb. 7. Hostess will be Lucy Goffinet.
A program on early president coins will be presented by Zella Gilbert.

Euchre at Leopold Conservation Club
LEOPOLD – Euchre games will be held at the Leopold Conservation Club through April. Games will continue Feb. 9 and 23, March 9 and 23 and April 6.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and games will start at 7. Food and refreshments will be available.
The club will not host euchre games Jan. 26 as members will participate in the fundraiser for Zach Taylor Saturday at the Perry County 4-H Fairgrounds. All are asked to attend the benefit and lend support.
Hoosier Days in Florida Feb. 3
SEBRING, Fla. – Indiana residents visiting Florida during the winter are invited to the annual Hoos-ier Days Feb. 3 at Homer’s Buffet, on the corner of Highway 27 and Sebring Parkway across from Wal-Mart, in Sebring.
Sign in for the lunch will be at 11 a.m. and the meal will begin at noon.
Perry County day in Florida
VENICE, Fla. – Perry County Day on the Gulf Coast of Florida will be held Feb. 21. It is an annual gathering of southern Indiana Hoosiers living in Florida and organized by Perry County natives.
Snowbirds, vacationers and those with ties to the area are welcome to attend. There will be two events. The day will start with a lunch at 11 a.m. at the Habachi Grill, formerly Marco Polos, at 549 U.S. Highway 41 Bypass North in Venice. Then a happy hour gathering will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Trader Vic’s, 351 N. Cattleman Road in Sarasota, Fla., just off I-75 at Fruitville.

Nancy Hanks Lincoln pilgrimage Feb. 10
LINCOLN CITY – The annual pilgrimage to Nancy Hanks Lincoln’s Memorial at the Lincoln Boyhood Memorial Museum will begin at 2 p.m. Feb. 10.
All Daughters of the American Revolution members are encouraged to attend.

Jasper concert postponed
JASPER – The 10,000 Maniacs concert scheduled at the Jasper Arts Center Jan. 19 was postponed due to a medical emergency.
The concert will be rescheduled at a future date, as yet to be determined. Current ticket holders will have their tickets honored at the rescheduled date.

Zumba at Schergens Center
TELL CITY – Everbody’s in Tell City and Perry County Wellness are sponsoring Zumba classes at the Schergens Center at 6:30 p.m. every Monday.
Cost is $3 per class or $12 for five sessions. Perry County students are admitted to classes for free.
Those attending are ask-ed to wear athletic shoes, take water and a towel and to arrive a few minutes early to sign in. Elementary children attending must be accompanied by an adult.
