Wellness walk, run Saturday
PERRY COUNTY – A Wellness 2012 walk-run for fun will kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Participants will meet at the City Hall Park gazebo and can choose from a 2-, 3- or 6-mile course. A 2012 wellness sock cap will be given out to the first 100 participants. The event is offered at no cost.

Moose to celebrate New Year’s
TELL CITY – Moose Lodge 1424 in Tell City will host a New Year’s Eve dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday at the lodge.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. Music will be provided by Damaged Goods. The public is invited to attend.
Legion to host party
TELL CITY – Tell City American Legion Post 213 will host a New Year’s Eve party Saturday at the post home.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the public is invited to attend. Cost is $10 per person.

Sportsman New Year’s Eve dine, dance
FULDA – The Fulda Sportsman Club will host a New Year’s Eve dine and dance Dec. 31 at the club.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. with a home-cooked dinner served at 6:30.
The dance will be from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with music provided by Final Tour. Cost is $15 per person and will include party favors and setups.

New Year’s Eve party at Twilight Towers
TELL CITY – There will be a New Year’s Eve party in the dining room of Twilight Towers, 1648 10th St. in Tell City, from 9 p.m. to midnight Dec. 31.
This party is open to residents and the public. The music will be provided by the band Crosswinds. Snacks, coffee and lemonade will be available. No smoking or alcohol will be permitted.
There will be no cover charge but donations will be appreciated.
Conservation Club to meet
LEOPOLD – The Leopold Conservation Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the clubhouse.
Members are encouraged to attend. To become a member, call Susie James at 843-5974.
The meeting is held the first Monday of every month, unless a holiday falls on the date. In that case, the meeting is held the first Tuesday.
Community invited to join Strengthening Families program
TELL CITY – Tell City-Troy Township schools are now enrolling families for their Strengthening Families program.
If you have a child who is 6 to 11 years old and are interested in more information or would like to sign up for this program, contact Wendi Rich or April Susnjara at William Tell Elementary at 547-9727.
The class will begin Jan. 5.
VFW members to celebrate history Jan. 21
TELL CITY – Members of Tell City Veterans of Foreign Wars Winchell-Vogel Post 2939 will celebrate its 78-year anniversary with a dinner at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the post home.
The dinner is for members only, including the ladies and men’s auxiliaries. To attend, members are asked to take a covered dish. The post will furnish the meat.
A dance, which will be open to the public, will begin at 8 p.m. and entertainment will be provided by Leo Gronquist and The Paradise Band.
Cover charge will be $5 per person at the door.
German American selling candles for Relay
TELL CITY – The three locations of German American in Tell City are selling a selection of candles for Relay for Life.
The candles cost $7 each. Proceeds will benefit the 2012 German American Relay for Life team.
VNA Plus blood pressure, blood sugar screenings
TELL CITY – The Visiting Nurse Association Plus will hold blood-pressure and blood-sugar screenings each month at Twilight Towers.
Screening will be from 9 to 10 a.m. the fourth Thursday of the month.

PCMH to offer screenings Tuesdays
TELL CITY – Perry County Memorial Hospital will hold blood-pressure and blood-screenings every Tue-sday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Wal-Mart in Tell City.
The screenings will be offered free of charge to the public.

Memorial to offer Friday health screening
JASPER – Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center will sponsor a “First Friday Health Screening” from 7 to 9 a.m. Jan. 6 in the Community Relations Classroom at Memorial Southside Office, 1100 West 12th Ave. in Jasper.
Participants must be 18 years or older and will have cholesterol – including total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides – and blood glucose checked via finger stick.
A 12-hour fast is required; however, you may drink water and take prescribed medications.
The cost is $25 and may be paid at the screening. The screening lasts approximately 15 minutes, and pre-registration is required.

Hoosier Day in Sebring Feb. 4
SEBRING, Fla. – The annual Hoosier Day in Sebring has been scheduled for Feb. 4 at Homer’s Buffet at the corner of Highway 27 and Sebring Parkway across from Wal-Mart.
Sign in is at 11 a.m. and the meal will be at noon.
Southern Indiana reunion set for Feb. 9
SARASOTA, Fla. – The annual southern Indiana reunion will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 9 at the Super Buffet VI in the Sarasota Crossings Shopping Center in Sarasota.
The reunion was formerly held in Venice, Fla. Anyone from southern Indiana and their friends are welcome to attend.
