Former governor to host book signing
TELL CITY – Former Indiana Governor Edgar Whitcomb will hold a book signing from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Cinderella’s in Tell City.
All three of Whitcomb’s books will be available for purchase at the signing. They include “Escape from Corregidor,” “On Celestial Wings” and “Cilin II: A Solo Sailing Odyssey.”
Wine tasting at Christmas Lake Golf Course
SANTA CLAUS – Christmas Lake Golf Course will host a wine tasting at the clubhouse in Santa Claus from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Admission is $10 and will include a souvenir wine glass. Five local wineries are set to participate.

Legion to host New Year’s Eve dance
TELL CITY – The Tell City American Legion Post 213 will host a New Year’s Eve dance open to the public from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Dec. 31.
Crosswinds will perform. Cost is $15 per couple or $10 per person.
Holiday celebration set for Dec. 19
TELL CITY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce, the Perry County Visitors and Convention Bureau and the Perry County Development Corp. will host a holiday celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 19 at their offices at 601 Main St., Suite A in Tell City.
A light lunch will be served and the public is invited to stop by.
Parent enrichment program Dec. 20
TELL CITY – Lincoln Hills Development Corp. Early Head Start invites the public to attend a parent enrichment program scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 20 at the LHDC Early Head Start, 321 Ninth Street, Tell City.
The December topic is managing stress with speaker Sarah Kluender, LCSW. Light refreshments will be served.

Santa to visit Sonic Dec. 19
TELL CITY – The public is invited to stop by Sonic in Tell City between 6 and 8 p.m. Dec. 19 to visit Santa, grab some treats and coloring pages.
Bristow church candy sales
BRISTOW – The Bristow United Pentecostal Church is taking orders for candy for Christmas.
Plain fudge, fudge with walnuts, peanut butter fudge, mixed fudge and peanut butter balls are $3.50 per half pound.
Peanut brittle is $2.50 per patty.

VNA Plus plans screenings
TELL CITY – The Visiting Nurse Association Plus conducts blood-pressure and blood-sugar screenings each month at Twilight Towers. The next screening will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Dec. 27.

Heartsaver CPR with AED
JASPER – Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center will offer a Heartsaver CPR class from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 18 in the Community Relations Classroom at Memorial Southside Office, 1100 West 12th Ave. in Jasper.
This American Heart Association course is designed for lay people who serve as rescuers as part of their job responsibilities and for the general public who have direct access to automated external defibrillators.
Skills taught include CPR, AED use and relief of choking in adults, children and infants. In order to complete the course and receive the course-completion card, participants must successfully complete a skills evaluation.
Pre-registration is required. The fee for the course is $50.

Living Bread Food Pantry open to public
TELL CITY – The Living Bread Food Pantry, an outreach program of Tell Street Baptist Church, offers prayer, Christian guidance and food to the needy families in the surrounding area.
Anyone is invited to schedule an appointment Saturdays, except the first of the month.
Appointments can be made by calling 547-4500 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Only two appointments per person per month are allowed.
Inquiries about the church’s Sunday services are also welcome.
Optimist blanket drive under way
TELL CITY – The Tell City Optimist Club is conducting its annual blanket drive from now until Monday.
Drop-off sites are at all area banks, the Evangelical United Church of Christ and St. Paul Catholic Church.

Eagles Bluff closed weekends
PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Parks and Recreation Director Adam Tempel announced recently that Eagles Bluff Park in Cannelton is closed weekends during the winter.
The park will re-open to patrons beginning in March.
Zumba at Schergens Center
TELL CITY – Everbody’s in Tell City and Perry County Wellness are sponsoring Zumba classes at the Schergens Center at 6:30 p.m. every Monday.
Cost is $3 per class or $12 for five sessions. Perry County students are admitted to classes for free.
Those attending are asked to wear athletic shoes, take water and a towel and to arrive a few minutes early to sign in.
Elementary children attending must be accompanied by an adult.
Zumba classes at Perry Central
LEOPOLD – Zumba classes are held at Perry Central at 6:30 p.m. in the school cafetorium each Monday.
Classes last one hour and cost for is $5 every Monday. A portion of each month’s proceeds is donated to a charitable cause. Everyone is invited to participate.
Hoosier Days in Florida
SEBRING, Fla. – Indiana residents visiting Florida during the winter are invited to the annual Hoosier Days Feb. 3 at Homers Buffet, on the corner of Highway 27 and Sebring Parkway across from Wal-Mart, in Sebring.
Sign in for the lunch will be at 11 a.m. and the meal will begin at noon.
