Car show, carnival at Oakwood Friday
TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City will host a car show and carnival community event from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday.
Carnival games and food will be available for the entire family. This event is open to the community. To enter your classic car, call 547-2333.

Shooting match at Ferdinand legion Friday

FERDINAND – Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 will host a shooting match at 6 p.m. EDT Friday at the post home.
First choice for the match will be half a beef with beef and pork choices to follow. The closed match will start at 8:30 p.m.

Dinners at Santa Claus Legion
SANTA CLAUS – Santa Claus American Legion Post 242 will serve fried-chicken dinners beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday at the post home.
Dine in or carry out will be available. Karaoke will begin at 9 p.m.

Tractor association to meet

BRANCHVILLE – The Ohio Valley Tractor Association will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Branchville Conservation Club. For more information, contact Ed Guillaume at 843-5746.
The annual tractor ride is set for Sept. 21. The group will ride tractors from Branchville to the Schwartz Family Restaurant.

Breakfast fundraiser at Twilight Towers

TELL CITY – Twilight Towers will have a breakfast fundraiser at 6 a.m. Sept. 7 in the dining room at 1648 10th Street in Tell City.
The menu will include biscuits and gravy. A full order will cost $2 and a half order will be $1. Drinks will include coffee, milk and orange juice for 50 cents each.
There also will be a bake sale at the event. Everyone is welcome.

Annual memorial ride Sept. 7
TELL CITY – The fifth annual Big John Williams Memorial Ride will be held Sept. 7 beginning at Braunie’s in Tell City.  Registration is from 9 until 11 a.m. All bikes will be out at 11 with all bikes in at 4:30 p.m. All vehicles are welcome to participate.
All proceeds go to the John Williams Memorial Scholarship given annually to a Perry County high-school senior.

Books needed at Twilight Towers

TELL CITY – The Twilight Towers Library is looking for some more large-print books, paperback or hardback, to add to the collection.
Gently used books would be much appreciated by the tenants. Books can be dropped off at the Twilight Towers office, 1648 10th St., Tell City.

Euchre at the Fulda Sportsman
FULDA – The Fulda Sportsman Club will host a euchre tourney at the club in Fulda Sept. 7. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with play beginning at 7 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded at the end of play and refreshments will be available. The public is invited to attend.

Free blood-pressure, blood-sugar tests offered by VNA Plus

TELL CITY – Keep a watch on your well-being by taking advantage of free monthly blood pressure and blood sugar screenings offered by VNA Plus Home Care and Hospice.
The screenings will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Sept. 26 at Twilight Towers in Tell City.
The clinic is conducted by registered nurses and no pre-registration is necessary.

Free hot dog night at TC soccer game
TELL CITY – The Tell City Junior High Soccer team will have a free-hot-dog night – while they last – at 6 p.m. Sept. 21 during the home game against North Posey. 
Festivities will start at 30 minutes prior to game time. All students, grade 12 and younger are admitted free. Admission for adults is $3.
 
Oakwood’s day at the movies
TELL CITY – Oakwood and Care One Home Health hosts a senior-citizens day at the movies the third Wednesday of each month at Tell City Cinemas.
A free movie is shown with a choice of current films available, popcorn and a soft drink. Doors will open at noon and the movie will begin at 1.

Santa Claus Legion poker games
SANTA CLAUS – Santa Claus American Legion Post 242 conducts Texas Hold’em poker tourneys the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.
Sign in is from 5 to 6 p.m. Play begins at 6:15 p.m.

HIV testing offered at health department
PERRY COUNTY – Did you know that someone becomes infected with HIV every 9.5 minutes?
Get tested and know your status, urges the AIDS Resource Group of Evansville, which offers free and confidential HIV testing at the Perry County Health Department the second Tuesday of every month. Hours are 1 to 3 p.m.

Living Bread Food Pantry open to public
TELL CITY – The Living Bread Food Pantry, an outreach program of Tell Street Baptist Church, offers prayer, Christian guidance and food to the needy families in the surrounding area.
Anyone is invited to schedule an appointment Saturdays, except the first of the month. Appointments can be made by calling 547-4500 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Only two appointments per person per month are allowed. Inquiries about the church’s Sunday services are also welcome.

Zumba at Schergens Center
TELL CITY – Everbody’s in Tell City and Perry County Wellness sponsors Zumba classes at the Schergens Center at 6:30 p.m. every Monday.
Cost is $3 per class or $12 for five sessions. Perry County students are admitted to classes for free.
Those attending are asked to wear athletic shoes, take water and a towel and to arrive a few minutes early to sign in.
Elementary children attending must be accompanied by an adult.
