Karaoke at St. Meinrad American Legion

 ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad American Legion will hold karaoke from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 at the post home.
There will also be a quilt raffle and half-pot drawings. Everyone welcome.

Relay team to host yard, bake sale Saturday

PERRY COUNTY – The Parrotheads Relay for Life Team will host a yard and bake sale from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday at Midway Storage, located behind the former Tell City Junior High School.  
Multiple families are taking part and there will be lots of baked goods. All proceeds will benefit Perry County Relay for Life.

Saturday hike meeting location changed
PERRY COUNTY – Those wishing to participate in the Perry County Parks and Recreation hike scheduled for Saturday will gather at a new place.
Hikers are asked to meet at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 70 and Indiana 37.

TC Fire Dept. chicken dinners Sunday
TELL CITY – The Tell City Fire Department will sell barbecued chicken dinners beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the corner of 12th and Mozart streets.
Cost will be $7 per plate. Meals will include half a barbecue chicken, creek fried potatoes and green beans.

St. Meinrad Legion vote
ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366 reminds members to stop by the post home April 17 to vote for new officers for the 2014 year. The post will be open all day.

Oakwood to recognize volunteers April 23

TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus will host a volunteer recognition at 2 p.m. April 23 in honor of National Volunteer Month.
This year’s theme will be the “Hollywood Walk Of Fame – Our Volunteers are Stars.” This event is being held to honor all volunteers in our community. RSVP at 547-2333 before April 19 if attending.

Old National Relay silent auction

TELL CITY – Old National Bank’s Relay For Life Team will host a silent auction until April 26.
The auction items will be at the Tell City Main Street location. Some of the items are Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari tickets, a gas card, Barbie items, dishware, paintings, baskets and more.

PCSAC accepting grant requests
PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Substance Ab-use Committee is accepting grant requests for the 2013-14 grant cycle.
Grant applications are available online at www.perrycountysubstanceabuse.org. Deadline for submitting applications is 3 p.m. today. Applications can be mailed to PCSAC, P.O. Box 442, Tell City, or dropped off to Diane Conner, coordinator, at First United Methodist Church, 702 10th St., in Tell City.

‘Cinderella’ to be presented Friday, Saturday
REO – The Children’s Center for Dance Education will present a one-hour ballet of “Cinderella” at 7 p.m. Friday at the Jasper Fine Arts Center and at 3 p.m. Saturday at South Spencer High School in Rockport.
The Children’s Center for Dance Education’s “Cinderella” will be performed solely by children as the mission of the group demonstrates that “every child should dance.” For more information on the shows, visit www.childdance.org or call (812) 421-8066.

Ghost Hunters fundraiser Saturday
TELL CITY – The Tell City Ghost Hunters will host a cookout to benefit the Perry County Animal Shelter April 13. The event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the animal shelter, 200 Herzelle St., in Cannelton.
Meals of hot dogs, chips and bottled water will be sold for $3. Baked goods will also be available for purchase. All proceeds will go to the shelter. The community is encouraged to at-tend.

CPR for family, friends in April
TELL CITY – Family and Friends is an American Heart Association Class where adult, child and infant CPR and choking rescue skills are demonstrated and practiced.
This class will be offered twice, from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. This class is for anyone who wants to learn CPR skills but does not need a certification card. No testing will be given.
The classes will be held at the Perry County EMS-Rescue building, located near Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.

Football families to gather
LEOPOLD – The Perry Central football families will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the high-school study hall room.

K of C soup dinner April 20
TELL CITY – The Knights of Columbus will host its annual “famous soup dinner” April 20 at the K of C building in Tell City.
Serving will begin at 10:30 a.m. and soup will be available by the gallon.

Dance marathon to benefit Riley Hospital set for April 20

TELL CITY – Tell City Junior-Senior High School will host its first-ever student dance marathon to benefit Riley Hospital for Children from 3 to 9 p.m. April 20 in the school’s auxiliary gym.
Families who have been helped by the hospital are invited to attend the event. If you or a family you know has been helped in some way by the hospital, contact Darian Oliva by e-mail at doliva2013@yahoo.com or Angela Hilgenhold at ahilgenhold@tell-city.k12.in.us or contact Hilgenhold at the school at 547-3131.
Families will be invited to share their stories and the children will receive gifts. Children will also get to make crafts and play games. Light refreshments will be served.
