Tractor Club to meet May 29
BRANCHVILLE – The Ohio Valley Tractor Club will meet Thursday, May 29 at 7 p.m. at the Branchville Conservation Club.

St. Paul TGIF set for May 30
TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will host TGIF, formerly known as “Beer Brats, Burgers and Band,” Friday, May 30 from 7 to 11 p.m. in the church parking lot.

Entertainment will be provided by St. Anthony area band, The Recycled Teenagers.

In the event of inclement weather, the event will be canceled. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Yoga in the Park May 31
TELL CITY – EverBody’s Fun and Fitness Center will hold Yoga in the Park at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31 at Sunset Park. Instructor Jennifer Land will lead the class. Mats will be provided to those who need them. The class is free but donations will be accepted.

Relay For Life golf scramble May 31
TELL CITY – Everbody’s Fun & Fitness Center will host a golf scramble to benefit Relay For Life. The event will take place at 1 p.m.

Saturday, May 31, at Hoosier Heights Country Club. Cost is $40 per person and $50 for a hole sponsorship. Mulligans and skirts can be purchased the day of the event for $5. For more information, call (812) 547-3565.

Library to host musher May 31
TELL CITY – Karen Land, an Indiana native and three-time participant in the 1,100-mile Iditarod Sled Dog Race across Alaska, will discuss how she got involved with sled dog racing and what led her to participate in the sport’s most grueling race.

The presentation will be held Saturday, May 31, at the Tell City Library from 1 to 3 p.m.

Masons  carry-in dinner May 31
ROME – Rome Lodge 133 Free and Accepted Masons will hold a carry-in supper at 6 p.m.  Saturday, May 31, at the lodge. All Masons, family and friends are invited to attend and enjoy friendship and a good meal. Call Kenneth Wright at (812) 836 2036 with questions.

Couponing class set for May 31
TELL CITY – A couponing class will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 8480 Dauby Lane in Tell City. The class will teach participants new techniques and rules. Everyone is invited and encouraged to take a friend. Games, door prizes and re-freshments will be offered.

Masons to hold EA degree May 31
BRANCHVILLE – The  Branchville 496 Free and Accepted Masons will hold an entered apprentice degree Saturday, May 31 at the lodge. Breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. and the EA degree will be held at 8 a.m.

VFW breakfast Saturday
TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host a buffet breakfast beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 31 at the post home. Price is $6.50 plus tax and the public is invited to attend.

Pistol course set for May 31
TELL CITY – C & J Firearm Academy will host an NRA Basic Pistol Course beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 31. The course will last approximately eight hours, will include classroom and range time, will be taught by a local NRA-certified instructor and will cover the basics of safe gun handling and shooting. Pre-registration is required.

Students should take a pistol and 50 rounds of ammunition. Eye and hearing protection are required. Lunch will be off-site. Call 547-8825 or visit the academy at 703 Jefferson Street for more information or to register.

Kidney disease education class to be held June 5
TELL CITY – A free Kidney Smart Education class will be offered from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at the Fifth Third Bank Community Room in Tell City. The class is free and open to anyone who has been diagnosed with kidney disease. For more information, contact Julie Denu or Travis Scifres at 547-1140.

Colors of Hope 5K June 7

TELL CITY – Colors of Hope, a 5K run-walk sponsored by New Directions Health and Fitness Club, will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 7.

The race will begin and end at New Directions. Registration fee is$20 and forms are available at the club or online at www.newdirectionsfitness.com.

Make checks payable to the club and mail or drop off forms at New Directions Health and Fitness Club, 632 Main St., Tell City, IN 47586. To guarantee a race T-shirt, register by May 30. All others are asked to wear anything and everything white. Race proceeds will benefit Perry County Relay for Life.

Southern Hills Relay For Life sale June 7
TELL CITY – The Southern Hills Counseling Center’s Relay For Life team will hold a garage sale from 6 a.m. until noon Saturday, June 7 in the center’s parking lot on the corner of Payne and Ninth streets in Tell City. Many furniture items will be available and the sale will be held rain or shine.

Rome United Methodist plans spaghetti dinner
ROME – The Rome United Methodist Church will host a spaghetti dinner beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 8. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

The meal will include spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, bread, a drink and dessert.

The country store will have breads, cakes, pies and cookies for sale. For more information, call (812) 836-2527. The church is wheelchair accessible.

Terry Lock Memorial Golf Scramble June 9
SANTA CLAUS – The Perry County Democrat Central Committee will host the Terry Lock Memorial Democrat Golf Scramble at 1 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Christmas Lake Golf Course.

Entry fee is $65 per golfer and will include drinks and snacks on the course and dinner at 5:30 p.m. at Mulzer Camp. Dinner tickets are available for nongolfers for $15. Registration will begin at noon. Entry forms are available at Jody’s Barber Shop in Tell City or by calling Dale Groves at (812) 547-2890 or 608-0166. The public is invited.

St. John’s to hold annual supper June 14
NEW BOSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church, located one half mile west of New Boston, will hold its annual chicken and ham supper Saturday, June, 14. Serving begins at 4:30 p.m. In addition to fried chicken and ham, there will be a variety of vegetables, desserts and homemade bread. The country store will have crafts, baked items, quilts, fresh produce, plants and numerous other items. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy food and fellowship.

TCUMC to host blood drive
TELL CITY – Tell City First United Methodist Church will host a blood  drive  from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 16, to help meet summer needs.

The goal for the community is 25 blood donors. Those donating must take identification or a Red Cross card. First United Methodist Church is located at 702 10th Street. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call the church office at 547-2800.

Free health screenings set for June 19
TELL CITY – The next Deaconess VNA Plus blood- pressure and blood-sugar screenings are scheduled for Thursday, June 19 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Twilight Towers in Tell City.

Screenings are conducted by a registered nurse and no pre-registration is necessary. Call 547-7967 for more information.

Troy School homecoming June 21
TROY – A Troy School homecoming has been scheduled for Saturday, June 21, in the St. Pius Parish Hall, which is the former St. Pius Grade School in Troy. The event will begin at 1 p.m.

Everyone is welcome, especially anyone who graduated from or attended school at St. Pius Grade School, Troy Grade School or Troy High School.

Free meals to be offered this summer
CANNELTON – The Cannelton City Schools Corp. will offer a free summer-food program for people less than 18 years old this summer, the district’s food-service director announced.

Jan Fugate said meals will be served in the Cannelton High School cafeteria from June 5 through July 25.

Breakfast will be served from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. and lunch will be from 11 a.m. until noon.

No meals will be offered July 3 or 4.

Hydrant flushing begins tomorrow in Tell City

TELL CITY – The Tell City Water Department will begin flushing fire hydrants Tuesday, May 27, starting on Fourth Street by the floodwall and working eastward. Residents should be aware of discolored and lower-than-normal water pressure when crews are in their area. For more information, call 547-3266.
