Tell City firefighters will sell dinners Sunday
TELL CITY – The Tell City Fire Department will serve barbecued-chicken dinners Sunday, April 6, at the firehouse. Serving will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the cost will be $7.50 per plate.

Each meal will include half a chicken, creek fried potatoes and green beans. Proceeds will support fire-department activities.

Benefit Saturday for Ghormley family
CANNELTON – There will be a benefit for the Betty Ghormley Family April 5 at Cannelton American Legion Post 142. A pool tourney will start at 11 a.m. and a cornhole tourney will follow at 1 p.m. A dart tourney will start at 3 p.m.

Entry fee will be $10 per person and contestants must be there at 10 a.m. to register.

There will also be a bake sale during the day.

William Tell Center to host  supper, dance April 25
TELL CITY – The William Tell Center at 1301 11th St. in Tell City will host a chili supper and dance Friday, April 25, at the center.

Admission will be $5 at the door. All are welcome to attend and dance to music of the 60s, 70s and 80s. Music on CD will be provided by Brianna Powers.

Chili, hot dogs and shakes will be available during the dance.

Donations will be accepted to help cover cost of the food.

Relay For Life  fundraisers April 17, May 1
TELL CITY – The Lincoln Hills Relay For Life team will hold a dessert auction from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 17 in the Lincoln Conference Room at 302 Main St. in Tell City. A yard sale will be held from 3 to 5:30 p.m. May 1, from 6:30 a.m. to noon May 2 and from 7 to 11 a.m. May 3. The sale will be held at 321 Ninth St.

The group will accept donations until April 18.

Leopold community yard sales April 25-26
LEOPOLD – The annual Leopold yard sale will be held April 25-26. There will be several families hosting yard sales in the St. Augustine Church Hall.

Other sales will be held at individual homes. Bargain-hunters should check the classifieds section in the News for details. For more information, call Phyllis Sprinkle at 843-4858.

Tell City school’s kickball tourney Sunday

TELL CITY – Tell City Junior-Senior High School will host a kickball tournament at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the Tell City softball fields.
The event is sponsored by the Tell City Junior-Senior After Prom Committee and all money raised will be used for after-prom prizes.

Cost is $40 per team if registered by Wednesday, April 2.

Game-day registration will be $50 per team. Teams must have eight players on the roster with no more than 10 total players. Only eight players will be on the field at one time. Age divisions are fourth, fifth and sixth grade; seventh and eighth grade; ninth through 12th grade and 18 and older.

Registration forms are available in the elementary office.

Library spring story times continue
TELL CITY – Perry County Public Library is holding spring story time sessions now through April 24, with programs at the Tell City and Cannelton branches. Participants may register for story time by calling 547-2661.

Programs are Mondays from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and 10:30 to 11 a.m. in Tell City, birth through 2 years; Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. in Tell City, 3 to 6 years; Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Tell City, 3 to 6 years; Wednesdays from 1 to 2 p.m. in Cannelton, 3 to 6 years; Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. in Tell City, 3 to 6 years. Contact Kim Embry at 547-2661 to register.

All programs are offered free of charge and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

TCHS  Class of 1959 schedules planning meeting
TELL CITY – The Tell City High School Class of 1959 will host its 55th class reunion Aug. 9 at the American Legion.

There will be a planning meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at Charlie Peter’s residence, 1419 13th St. in Tell City.

Interested classmates who are willing to help are asked to attend.
Any classmate who entered as a freshman or later is also invited to attend the reunion.

Spring social and soup sale Sunday
FULDA – St. Boniface Parish Center will host a spring social from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the center in Fulda.

Fulda’s “famous soup” or chili will be available by the bowl or gallon. Preorders are encouraged but not required.

A menu of cheeseburgers, hamburgers, smoked sausage links, barbecued pulled pork sandwiches, desserts and soft drinks will also be available. Bingo will be played from noon to 5 p.m. and a euchre tourney will begin at 5:30 p.m. Vegetables, flowering plants, jellies and homemade baked goods will be for sale.

Sommer benefit April 12

TELL CITY – Family and friends of Perry County resident Urban Sommer will hold a benefit in his honor Saturday, April 12 at the Indiana Realty and Auction Co. in Tell City.

There is no cover charge for this event. Pre-purchased chicken dinners will be available for pickup at 11 a.m. and can also be delivered if requested. Drive-up dinners will be available starting at noon. A cornhole tourney will also start at noon. To enter, contact Carl Sommer at 719-7791.

Inside food and bake sales will start at 3 p.m. with a live auction at 4 p.m. Stan LaGrange and Kelly Clark will perform after the auction.
