4-H open house Sunday
PERRY COUNTY – A 4-H open house will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Perry County Fairgrounds. A free movie will be shown afterward. All 4-H families and potential new members are invited to attend.

Legion Texas hold’em Saturday
TELL CITY – American Legion Post 213 will hold a no-limit Texas hold’em tournament Saturday at the post home.

Sign-in begins at 3:30 p.m. and play starts at 4 p.m. There is a $15 entry fee and a $20 buy-in.

Payout is 100 percent. This event is open to the public. Contact J.T. at 548-8745 or the post at 547-8201 for more information.

TC High School offers public wellness activities
 TELL CITY – Wellness activities are being offered free of charge through a Welborn grant to members of the community.

Piloxing will be offered Tuesday  from 4 to 4:45 p.m. and tai chi Wednesday from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Both classes will eet in the auditorium.
Lap swimming will be available from 3:30 to 4:30 today at the pool.

Zumba-thon fundraiser Feb. 8
TELL CITY – There will be a Zumba-thon benefiting the Tell City Junior-Senior High School Marching Marksmen from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 8 in the auxiliary gym at the school.  

Door prizes will be given away every 15 minutes.  The school principals, Brad Ramsey and Chris Hollinden, Detective Alan Malone of the Tell City Police Department, and Sheriff Lee Chestnut will be on hand.  

For a donation of $5 each per song they will Zumba with the group.  Perry County Wellness will provide bottled water for all participants.  Tickets prices are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.  Tell City student tickets are $10. Tickets are available at EverBody’s Fitness, from a band student, or by calling 719-1230.  

Indiana 15 to meet Tuesday
FERDINAND – The regular meeting of the Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission’s Board of Directors will meet at 7:30 p.m. EST Tuesday at the commission’s office located at 221 E. First St. in Ferdinand.

Patoka Lake nature programs Feb. 8
BIRDSEYE  – The Patoka lake Visitor Center in Birdseye will present nature programs Feb. 8. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be red-tailed hawk and screech owl viewing in the backyard of the visitor center.

At 1 p.m., visitors can take a short stroll along the old Narrows road, hear stories of days gone by and have a look inside the Moery cabin.  At 2 p.m., the science of snowflakes program will show how crystals are formed and guests can make a 3-D snowflake to take home. DCBC to host Valentine dinner
TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church will hold a Valentine Dinner - February 16 at 6 p.m. Cost  is $8 for adults and children are free. All are welcome.

VFW breakfast Saturday
TELL CITY – Veterans of Foeriegn Wars Post 2939 will host a buffet breakfast from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the post home. Cost is $6.50 plus tax and the public is invited to attend.

Card shower Sunday for Gertrude Rogier
LEOPOLD – Gertrude Rogier of Leopold will celebrate her 98th birthday Sunday. A native of Siberia, she still lives on the farm where she and her late husband, Fred, raised their family.
