Perry Central will host financial-aid workshop Jan. 18
LEOPOLD – Perry Central High School will host a financial-aid workshop at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 18 in the high-school library. The meeting is for seniors and their parents.
Tracy Adams, a financial-aid adviser at the University of Southern Indiana, will explain the Federal Application for Free Student Aid process, provide tips and answer questions about applying for financial help from any college. The FAFSA provides students with grant and student loan opportunities on the state and federal government levels. The state deadline for filing the FAFSA is March 10. Prom, bridal expo Jan. 15 in Ferdinand
FERDINAND – The 10th annual Ferdinand Prom and Bridal Expo will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST Jan. 15 at the Ferdinand Community Center, 1710 Community Drive in Ferdinand.
More than 25 vendors will be available to help make any wedding a special event. The first 200 brides will receive a special gift and many other prizes will be given away. Other events will include a continuous style show and samples of the area’s finest catered foods and cakes will be available.
Parks and rec meeting Jan. 11
CANNELTON – The Perry County Parks and Recreation board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Courthouse Annex in Cannelton.
Horseman club will sponsor euchre games
TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman Club will host euchre games now through March. Events are planned for Saturday, Jan. 21, Feb. 4, Feb. 18, March 3, 17 and 31.
Chili, hot dogs, desserts, soft drinks and coffee will be available at 6 p.m. with games at 7. Cost at the door is $5 per person.
Prizes will be awarded for high points. First place will receive $50, second place $30 and third place $20. Rules will be announced before each game. For more information, call 836-2127 or 836-2052.
Optimist chili supper Jan. 14
TELL CITY – The Optimist Club of Tell City will host its annual chili supper Jan. 14 in the Tell City Junior-Senior High School cafeteria. Serving times will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $7 per person and meals will include chili, sandwich and dessert.
The community is invited to join the group and then stay for the Tell City vs. South Spencer basketball game. Tickets can be purchased at the door or call Curt Cronin at 548-0639.
All proceeds from the supper will go to community youth events.
Families invited to join Strengthening Families program
TELL CITY – Tell City-Troy Township schools are now enrolling families for their Strengthening Families program.
If you have a child who is 6 to 11 years old and are interested in more information or would like to sign up for this program, contact Wendi Rich or April Susnjara at William Tell Elementary at 547-9727.

VFW members to celebrate history
TELL CITY – Members of Tell City Veterans of Foreign Wars Winchell-Vogel Post 2939 will celebrate its 78-year anniversary with a dinner at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the post home.
The dinner is for members only, including the ladies and men’s auxiliaries. To attend, members are asked to take a covered dish. The post will furnish the meat.
A dance, which will be open to the public, will begin at 8 p.m. and entertainment will be provided by Leo Gronquist and The Paradise Band.
Cover charge will be $5 per person at the door.
VNA Plus blood-pressure, blood-sugar screenings
TELL CITY – The Visiting Nurse Association Plus will hold blood-pressure and blood-sugar screenings each month at Twilight Towers.
Screening will be from 9 to 10 a.m. the fourth Thursday of the month.

PCMH to offer screenings Tuesdays
TELL CITY – Perry County Memorial Hospital will hold blood-pressure and blood-screenings every Tuesday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Wal-Mart in Tell City.
The screenings will be offered free of charge to the public.

German American selling candles for Relay
TELL CITY – The three locations of German American in Tell City are selling a selection of candles for Relay for Life.
The candles cost $7 each. Proceeds will benefit the 2012 German American Relay for Life team.
Memorial to offer Friday health screening
JASPER – Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center will sponsor a “First Friday Health Screening” from 7 to 9 a.m. Friday in the Community Relations Classroom at Memorial Southside Office, 1100 West 12th Ave. in Jasper.
Participants must be 18 years or older and will have cholesterol – including total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides – and blood glucose checked via finger stick.
A 12-hour fast is required; however, you may drink water and take prescribed medications.
The cost is $25 and may be paid at the screening. The screening lasts approximately 15 minutes, and pre-registration is required.

Hoosier Day in Sebring
SEBRING, Fla. – The annual Hoosier Day in Sebring has been scheduled for Feb. 4 at Homer’s Buffet at the corner of Highway 27 and Sebring Parkway across from Wal-Mart.
Sign in is at 11 a.m. and the meal will be at noon.
Southern Indiana reunion set for Feb. 9
SARASOTA, Fla. – An annual southern Indiana reunion will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 9 at the Super Buffet VI in the Sarasota Crossings Shopping Center in Sarasota.
The reunion was formerly held in Venice, Fla. Anyone from southern Indiana and their friends are welcome to attend.
