LEOPOLD—Brooke Litherland drove in four runs with two triples as Perry Central trounced Orleans 12-0 Monday to win the PLAC girls softball title outright.
The Commodores beat West Washington 4-1 Saturday to clinch at least a share of the PLAC title. But Orleans, which had lost only to Paoli 2-1, still stood in the way of the Commodores’ first outright conference title.
Monday was Perry Central’s senior night and “the girls were really pumped up and ready to play,” said Perry Central Coach Mark Rothgerber. “They said they weren’t sharing (the title).”
They scored five runs in the first inning, chasing Orleans’ starting pitcher, to take control early.
Ashley Guillaume, Sydney Goffinet and Heather Hendricks each had two hits and Morgan Richardson hit a triple to back Litherland in Perry Central’s 11-hit attack.
Guillaume and Lexi Aders each drove in two runs.
Center fielder Brittany Parker “made two super nice catches” and Hendricks “made some nice catches in the outfield—she really stepped up,” said Rothgerber.
Miranda Claise threw a one-hitter for her 13th win of the season. She struck out seven and walked none.
“Miranda pitched a great game,” said Rothgerber.
Claise pitched  a two-hitter in Saturday’s win over West Washington, striking out two and walking one.
“Miranda pitched a very good game and kept the hitters off balance, mixing her pitches up, and the defense stepped up when they had runners on,” said Rothgerber.
Autumn Lain and Goffinet each hit a double for Perry Central. Lain, Goffinet and Litherland each drove in one run.
“We were aggressive when we got on base and made some smart base-running decisions,” said Rothgerber.
Perry Central, 6-0 in the PLAC and 15-4 overall, will visit South Spencer today at 5 p.m.
