CANNELTON - Wes Linette homered in both games as Perry Central swept a baseball doubleheader with Cannelton 14-2 and 20-1 Thursday.
The Commodores had 13 hits in the first game and 18 in the second one.
Bo Gibson went 3 for 4 to lead Perry Central hitters in the first game. He scored three runs and drove in two.
Ryan Hanan drove in four runs that game with a single and a double. Austin Hauser and Tony Backer each added two RBIs.
Stephen Lane hit a double to lead Cannelton's three-hit attack.
Backer pitched all five innings for Perry Central to get the win. He struck out nine and walked two, and both Cannelton runs were unearned.
The Bulldogs scored two runs in the first inning without a hit or a walk, thanks to two errors, a hit batsman, two stolen bases, a wild pitch and a passed ball.
Both errors came on the infield, and some of the Perry Central infielders looked shaky early even when making the plays.
But they settled down after that and did not commit another error the rest of the day.
Lane pitched the first three innings for Cannelton to take the loss. He walked four and struck out five, though two of them reached base on passed-ball third strikes.
Perry Central had 18 hits in the second game. Michael Jarboe had a double and two singles and drove in five runs.
Zach Lutgring also had three hits. Linette and Gibson each added two hits before leaving the game in the third inning.
Linette scored three runs, as he was also hit by a pitch between his two hits.
Linette's home run over the right field fence started an eight-run Commodore rally in the third inning after two outs.
Linette's homer in the first game was an opposite-field shot well over the left-field fence.
Ethan Herzog provided most of Cannelton's offense the second game, hitting a solo homer over the left-field fence and a double to deep left.
The Bulldogs' other two hits that game were infield singles.
Perry Central freshman Andrew Harpenau pitched the first four innings for the win, striking out four and walking none.
Fellow freshman Dejay Shaw pitched the last inning, striking out three and walking one.
"I liked our pitching," said Perry Central Coach Ty Guillaume. "What I like about Harpenau is he throws strikes - he makes fielders make plays.
"Tony looked good too. A couple of errors hurt him the first inning, but then he settled down. I thought he did a better job of keeping the ball down (than in previous games)."
Chase Gerber pitched the first three innings for Cannelton to take the loss. He walked none and struck out two - both on called third strikes.
Perry Central improved to 5-7 while Cannelton fell to 1-9.
