LEOPOLD—Clint Cassidy pitched a four-hitter as Perry Central shut out Lanesville 4-0 in baseball Wednesday.

Cassidy struck out one and walked one and his teammates committed only one error.

“Clint got a lot of ground-ball outs,” said Perry Central Coach Gary Hanan. “His ball kind of dives a little bit.”

Cassidy fielded six balls hit back to him and catcher Lucas Bryant had assists on two swinging bunts in front of the plate.

Stephen Hayes went 3 for 3 and drove in a run to lead Perry Central’s eight-hit attack. Bryant added two hits.

Perry Central lost 7-6 in nine innings at Wood Memorial Friday.

The Trojans scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score, as the Commodores committed two two-out errors.

Each team scored a run in the eighth and Perry Central scored one in the top of the ninth to take its fourth lead of the game.

Wood Memorial tied the game in the bottom of the ninth on two walks and a single.

After a sacrifice bunt and an intentional walk to load the bases, the next batter was hit by a pitch to force in the winning run.

“We start well but we just have trouble finishing,” said Hanan.

Bryant and Kyle Troesch each had three of the Commodores’ 12 hits.

Zach Lutgring and Seth Raetz each added two hits and two RBIs. Joey Peter also had two hits.

Four Perry Central pitchers combined to give up 17 hits and two walks.

Perry Central, 6-9, will visit Paoli for a PLAC game today at 5 p.m.
