LEOPOLD—Miranda Claise pitched a two-hitter and Perry Central had 12 hits as it trounced Crawford County 10-0 in PLAC girls softball Saturday.
“Miranda pitched a great game, giving up no walks against a very good hitting, team” said Perry Central Coach Mark Rothgerber.
“Crawford County put the ball in play (only four strikeouts), but we played very good defense to keep them off base. We turned a 6-4-3 double play to end the fifth inning.
“I was very pleased with the team stepping up after having a disappointing outing against Tecumseh. It just shows how well we can play when we put effort in the game.”
Brittany Parker and Brooke Mullis, usually a JV player, each hit a triple and a single in three at-bats to lead Perry Central’s offense.
“Lexi Aders was gone for a wedding and Autumn (Lain) played right and Madi (Guillaume) caught, so we used Brooke Mullis as the DP and she did an excellent job,” said Rothgerber.
Guillaume and Sydney Goffinet each also went 2 for 3. Kosha Wetzel added a triple and Casey James a double.
Wetzel led in RBIs with two.
Commodore batters struck out only once against two Wolfpack pitchers.
Perry Central improved to 2-0 in the PLAC and 8-6 overall.
The Commodores will host Paoli for a PLAC game today at 5 p.m.
