Commodores off to best volleyball start in team history

LYNNVILLE—Hannah Harpenau made 21 kills, two blocks and 12 digs as Perry Central beat Tecumseh 25-16, 25-21, 22-25, 25-15 in volleyball Thursday.
Perry Central improved to 9-0, the best start in the team’s 41-year history.
Sydney Goffinet added 11 kills, Jordan Sprinkle eight, and Brittany Parker six as the Commodores, ranked No. 2 in the state in Class 2A, knocked off the team ranked No. 8 in Class A.
Grace James had 45 assists.
Sprinkle and Madeline Hubert each made four blocks and James added three.
Parker made 22 digs, James 14, Hubert 11, and Hannah Edwards 10.
Goffinet, Harpenau and James each served two aces and Hubert went 14 for 14 serving.
Tecumseh won the JV match 25-9, 25-20.
Jessica Coultas made two kills for Perry Central and Payton Emmons had four assists.
Ryann Lynch made six digs and Brooke Mullis added five for the 1-7 Commodores.
Perry Central will visit Crawford County Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
