Substance-abuse committee to meet June 25
LEOPOLD - The Perry County Substance Abuse Committee will host a grant presentation at noon Wednesday, June 25, at Perry Central High School in the conference room.

VFW breakfast set for Saturday
TELL CITY - Tell City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host a buffet breakfast beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28 at the post home. Price for breakfast will be $6.50 plus tax. The public is invited.

Adventures with Nature June 28
TIPSAW - The 11th annual Adventures with Nature field day will be held at the Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area Saturday, June 28. Activities will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Children will have the opportunity to learn about bees, butterflies, bats and birds, make suet birdfeeders and kites, dissect owl pellets to see what owls eat, make soap carvings and attend a raptor program presented by a naturalist from Hardy Lake at noon.

Branchville Fun Day June 28
BRANCHVILLE - Branchville Fun Day will be held Saturday, June 28, at the Branchville Clubhouse.

The Branchville Conservation Club and Ohio Valley Tractor Club will sell pulled-pork dinners, hamburgers and hotdogs beginning at noon.

A cornhole contest will be held at 5 p.m. for $5 per person, with sign-up open until 4:30 p.m. and volleyball at 1 p.m. for $5 per person or $30 per team and sign-up until 12:30 p.m.

The Perry Central Future Farmers of America will hold a yard sale in the clubhouse. The public is also invited to set up yard sales and keep their earnings. Organizers ask sellers to take their own tables.

A kiddie tractor-pull, antique tractor show and free games will be held during the day. For more information, call 843-4591, 843-5716 or 843-5746.

Farmers market now open
TELL CITY - The Perry County farmers market has kicked off its season. Hours are 8 a.m. until sellout Saturdays and 4 p.m. until sellout Wednesdays.

Markets will continue through fall. Anyone wanting to learn more can call 547-7933.

Benefits set for Paul "Weasel" Miller
TELL CITY - A benefit ride and special weekend have been scheduled for Paul "Weasel" Miller, who was severely injured in a workplace accident several weeks ago. The benefits will raise money to help offset costs while he is unable to work.

Weasel Weekend will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, July 11, at the Sportsman Inn in Tell City. A benefit ride will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, from Braunie's Tavern in Tell City. Participation in the ride will be $10 a person and the ride will begin at 11 a.m.

Tell City Historical Society to meet June 30
TELL CITY - The monthly membership meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 30, at the museum.  The program will feature snippets of early Tell City.

First Baptist youth refuge to meet July 8
CANNELTON - The First Baptist Church of Cannelton's youth refuge will hold its monthly meeting 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the community room at the Cotton Mill. The meeting's theme will be "Thank You to Our Troops." Meetings are open to anyone in grade three and older. Attendees should use the Adams Street entrance.
