TELL CITY - A teenager riding his bike on a sunny morning suffered multiple skull fractures and a broken leg Monday after colliding with a truck on Franklin Street, Tell City police said.

Fuentes was traveling north on 14th Street shortly before 10 a.m. and apparently failed to stop at the intersection with Franklin Street. "There wasn't anything he could do. He didn't see the bicycle coming down the hill," Wooldridge said.

Police, first responders and paramedics treated Fuentes at the scene. Reached at the hospital Wednesday morning, Fuentes' mother, Robin Strahl, said he underwent surgery Monday night. "He's recovering and breathing on his own," she said. "He's doing OK."
