TELL CITY - Quick action limited the impact of a sewage discharge Wednesday into Windy Creek, city officials said last week. A sanitary sewer running through a gravity stormwater line became clogged and the buildup in pressure caused a leak in the sewer line, Sewage Department Superintendent Bruce Badger said Thursday. The spill was visible along 200 feet of the creek in Hagedorn Park.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management and Department of Natural Resources were notified and OK'd the city's plan to remove dead fish in the creek, Mayor Barbara Ewing said.

The city also notified the county health department and pumped water from the creek in the affected area into a line leading to the treatment plant.
